Reynolda Wetlands- One year of looking
Reynolda Wetlands- One year of lookingThe painting was commissioned by the Reynolda Gardens head gardener.  She asked me to make a landscape painting that would educate the public about the ecosystem, the life of this specific wetland located on their grounds at Wake Forest University. The concept was if I could stand in this spot for a year without closing my eyes, what would I see? Of course I am not God and only He can do that. But I trusted in His ability to work within my weakness.  After many visits to the site and research collected from local scientists I began to paint.  Art is an extravagant investment in deep contemplation on how to represent the seen and the unseen in one space, with the limited materials of pigment, paper and two feeble hands. Here's the result.
